starting before pre-K

Just wanted to pass along the following from Georgia, where a superintendent reports they're working with parents as children's first teachers:
For the last three years, Gainesville City Schools has delivered a family literacy program in the federal housing projects in our community for parents of children birth to age 4. The program, “Read and Rise” from the Scholastic company, is designed to teach parents how to positively interact with their children, select quality television programs, share their family stories, and provide enriching experiences that are of  no or low cost.
The main idea: The parent is the first and best teacher and every parent has the capacity to be just that.
