Gifted? Talented? Bell to bell?

Or another option.

This is what we lose when teachers have mandated curriculum that teaches to tests.

Yes, it is.

Thank you for posting this. It was really great.

I attended a gifted-and-talented program in the WPS in the 80s, and I really appreciated the things I did in that program (acting! a really great unit on the Wars of the Roses! architecture!) but I had a friend who was never selected and was SO disappointed.

She had a point. Everyone in my class could have benefitted from what a few kids were doing. Everyone could have gained a passion for the history of the high Middle Ages, everyone could have enjoyed acting...

Nicole can you explain your friend's situation? Was she in your program but not selected to participate? Or was she not selected for the gifted-and-talented program

Sorry -- she wasn't selected for the program. She was smart, mind you, but not selected.
