Online credit recovery

I've had this article open for at least a week now. I'm rather torn about online credit recovery, for reasons pretty well outlined in the article.

Report of the superintendent: alternative education

Boone: not just say we're doing things, but evaluate how they're put in place
last month presented information on the arts magnet pathway in the city
have done the same thing with alternative education
"should not be substandard education"
Rodrigues: received an alternative education grant for this evaluation
Education Development Center looked at Creamer Center, Challenge Academy, Reach Academy, Safety center, transition center, Woodward Day (under the collaborative)
effective alternative education programs:

• small in size
• flexible schedules and structures
• faculty adjusts approaches to meet their students needs

since this report was provided to us, already able to put recommendations into action

evaluator really saw a lot of strengths in our program

plan to attend a job fair in Chicago: to benefit from loss of teaching positions there
3 to 4 out of state fairs for national recruitment
Biancheria: Chicago an excellent location to begin the process

Allen: staff development and personnel office both are in here, but none of the money is for staff development (which it says in line B)

Allen: Title IIA funds used for recruitment
O'Connell: still have Title IIA funds available? still exists but in a reduced form
Allen: 8% reduction, as across the board

Get those graduation rates up! they were told

so they did.

I should point out that Worcester Public Schools do have credit recovery. From what I've seen, though, it's being carefully used.
