Students in our school are taught how to engage in respectful discussions. They know that empathetic listeners pay attention to the speaker, use eye contact appropriately and listen with the intent to understand rather than just waiting for the speaker to stop as they plan their own response. I'm curious as to the purpose of your engagement with your laptop during meetings. It sets a poor example. If the purpose is to demonstrate your ability to multi-task and to share your version of events with a different audience I believe you have failed to do either. This blog is not an accurate reflection of the meeting. It contains factual errors. You have assigned some of the speakers to the wrong school and you are clearly misinformed about Innovation Schools. Another lesson you could learn from our students is the importance of revising and editing your writing.
As for reaching a wider audience, judging by the number of comments you don't have very many readers. That brings me to my original question. What's the point? Why risk alienating people by spending meetings engrossed in your laptop instead of being truly present as an engaged, empathetic participant?

These are my notes during meetings, which I post for those who find them helpful.
