You thought I was kidding...

...when I said that Bill Gates was pushing technology in schools to sell Microsoft products.
I wish. Open Office, anyone?

Well, isn't education about getting a job? Excel is the most widely used spreadsheet in business. Knowing Excel is important in working in an office. Since corporations no longer train employees they'll need to learn somewhere. The business of America is business, and the education system of America is the training program for the business of America.

Naturally my personal preference would be that we educate children to be critical thinkers. Getting a job should be secondary, but we passed the veil a long time ago. Once upon a time we could educate a child to think and that child would get a job where they would teach that child how to work. Now the expectation by corporate America is that those kids should arrive at their door already capable of working.
