Board of Ed for December: vision and mission

 Johnston: in 2023, planned for 2023-24 year
finalized educational vision "to better align our projects"
catalog of aligned supports 
"this is ongoing work...turning a shift together"


planning for "how would we know...that it's in alignment with our vision"
"what do we want this project to actually do"
209 projects down from 234; often consolidated projects together
continuing to move "from alignment to coherence"

for next school year: stocktaking meetings quarterly, training for office leaders, prioritization
"what will unite the efforts of this agency"
one date by which all DESE projects are due
all plans to reviewed for alignment to strategic objectives and racial equity decisionmaking tool
catalog to come out in May this year (rather than June)

Hills: update on high dosage tutoring?
Johnston: advancing student learning, MASS, MASC, AFT, MTA, charters
focus on increasing diversity and effectiveness of educator workforce
"what are some current events" need to be responding to
informed by their input, truly advancing student learning
Hills: will there be something coming I think on tutoring? Maybe?
Johnston: budget request
researchers from Johns Hopkins coming in January
literacy as a topic in January meeting 
want to see 13,000 first graders receiving high-dosage tutoring next year
