Mr. Secretary, here's the deal: when Jon Stewart says to you, "These teachers have a little bit of a problem with this Race to the Top," this is NOT the time to talk about all the states "being innovative."
The teachers have a very good idea of just what that "innovation" on the part of the state is--and one of those teachers is Jon Stewart's mom
"Isn't Race to the Top the very thing that demoralized them even further?...is this perhaps not the best use of the federal government?" Stewart
"We didn't set these standards," Duncan. OH COME ON...seriously.The worst economic situation in a generation, and what's the federal government's response for education? You can have the money IF YOU adopt the Common Core. Was it designed by a group of governors? Yeah. Is it a national standard? It is sure now! This was not developed by teachers, parents, or anyone anywhere near kids.

YOU DID NOT put $4 billion behind the lowest 5% schools in the country! Race to the Top is not only going to the lowest performing schools. That's just not true!
"The entire pipeline is broken," Duncan on teacher preparation...does he even realize that he just dissed every single teacher currently teaching?
But, yes, Jon: I think you're okay with your mom after this interview.
