Two recent news articles that caught my eye under the general header of "you don't know til you ask":
- Maine has released an interim summary of their Governor's Commission on School Construction, estimating that $11B will be needed statewide in the next twenty years for repairing and replacing buildings.
- Connecticut's legislature is considering a bill that would study the cost of school transportation statewide, including the cost of special education students
In both cases, the state is better positioned than individual districts to make a real difference in these areas.
