What we passed last night on testing

Just to clarify, because I've seen some confusion this morning: what the Worcester School Committee passed last night wasn't any sort of a local moratorium on testing (we'd lose our state funding, no question, and that's 2/3 of our budget): we passed this language which calls on the state to put a moratorium on testing until a full conversation has been had.

Two reminders on this front:
  • the Board of Ed's next hearing on the PARCC/MCAS decision in next Tuesday, June 10, at Bridgewater State, Rondileau Campus Center Ballroom, from 5-8 pm. You can also submit your testimony to boe@doe.mass.edu.
  • the Joint Committee on Education is holding a public hearing on all of the assessment bills filed this session next Wednesday, June 11 at 10 am at the State House. You can find the list of bills under "hearings" and the June 11 date at the Joint Committee's page.
