Just when you thought it couldn't get any weirder

...it appears that the Gloucester charter school intends to open today in defiance of the DESE and Commissioner Chester. Chester may convene a special meeting of the state Board of Ed to revoke the school's charter.

Staff, parents, and 85 children today defied state opposition and began the new school year at the Gloucester Community Arts Charter School, which the state contends does not meet standards for charter schools.
