A New York judge has
voided the closing of 19 NYC schools,
commenting that the NYC Department of Ed has “trivialized the whole notion of community involvement …” As required under (new) state law, the closings must take place after community involvement which (despite that long meeting I blogged about) did not, in fact, happen. The court also called out the DoE for the thought that “…rather than being ordered to comply with the Education Law, they should be permitted to develop their own guidelines for compliance…”
