- There is a meeting of the Worcester School Committee tonight at 7 pm (it will probably start a bit late, as there's an executive session first). A few interesting things on the agenda: the superintendent's report is on the PQA (watch this list to see if it's addressed); the TLSS subcommittee report will include that bit about school reorganization (watch this); and there's items dealing with the census, recess, Twitter, and more money for Belmont.
- The Tea tomorrow has nothing to do with the Tea Party, but is a meeting of the School Committee with the Worcester delegation (it's a tea due to the time of day). As there is quorum of the School Committee attending, it is open to the public. It's at 3:30 tomorrow at Worcester Tech.

Meetings and meetings
A few scheduling notes:
Not sure if this will come up regarding gthe census, but the Parent Information Center would be a great place for this info to be distributed as all new elementary level parents have to register there. With Kindergarten and PK registration underway, over 2,000 new families will pass through its doors. Also, outreach through the students at the James A Caradonio Center is key. With stimulus dollars, for Title I alone, the district received millions of dollars less than Springfield due to an approx.difference of about 1400 students. Since these numbers are the basis for a really warped federal formula that gets used for the next 10 years, counting everyone is crucial. In the past, the WPS has worked through both Congressman McGovern's office and the late Senator Kennedy's office to try to change this formula but it literally seeems like it would take an act of Congress to modify the funding formula. Good luck with this very important task.
